Thursday Thirteen: Edishun 24
Since last week was Lion Trivia, I'm doing Tiger Trivia this week becuz my big bruther Mao sed that the tigers hoo reed my blog mite feel slited and come to my howse and eet me if I don't rite abowt them, too. So heer we go:- A group of tigers is called a 'streak'.
- ‘Tigons’ have a tiger father and lioness mother, but ‘ligers’ are fathered by lions with a tiger mother. Just ask Napoleon Dynamite.
- In the last century, tiger numbers have declined by a 95 per cent. Its only predator is man.
- Tigers not only have stripes on their fur, but also on their skin.
- Stripe patterns often differ between the two sides of the tiger’s body.
- Tiger night-vision is more than five times better than that of humans.
- Adult tigers are solitary hunters.
- Adult tigers can eat up to 60 lbs of food at one sitting. After a big kill, they may not eat again for a week or two.
- When hunting, tigers only manage to catch prey in one out of 10-20 attempts. (Compare this to my speshul frend Daisy's hunting suksess: she gits her lizzerd at leest 50% of the time.)
- Tigers love water and are great swimmers.
- A tiger's roar can be heard two or three kilometres away.
- Total length ranges from seven to 12 feet.
- It is estimated that well over 10,000 tigers live in captivity around the world, which means there are currently more tigers in captivity than in the wild.

McSkeezix, those are some very interesting facts about tigers. I think I like tigers better than lions. But it seems like they might need to practice their hunting a little more; when I hunt lizards, I catch the prey usually one out of two attempts. But they are good at roaring! My roar can only be heard as far as upstairs.
Napoleon knows a lot of things. Did you vote for Pedro???
We didn't know that Tigers loved water. We don't know about that stuff.

Tigers are skeery. they're too big for kitties. i hope you didn't have to get too close to do this TT, Skeezix!
Let's see. We're tiger kitties. That's almost the same. We do streak thru the house. Our stripes are also on our skin and are different on each side. Night vision - check. We don't like being solitary. (Don't tell, but we cry when we can't find each other.) We would like to eat a lot of food, but we don't want to starve for 2 weeks. We always catch our prey. Toys can't run away. We looooooooovvvvvveeee water!!! Mommy says no roaring in the house because we make enough noise. If we stretch really far, we might be 2 1/2 ft. What's captivity? Is that like how we keep our humans captive?
Furry ejumakashonal. Do tigers purr? Mom likes kitties who purr so she prolly woodent want a real tiger.
Thanks for sharing! I really like tigers and they are quite amazing! Ligers are also really cool...hehehe.

Sounds like everyone needs to be nicer to tigers!
I'm pretty good at roaring. Well, at least I'm good at MAOing. It sounds more like I'm MAOing when I'm roaring.
Really interesting stuff about Tigers! They're cool great big huge kitties.
lol @ O'Jete :-D
I really enjoyed reading this very very informative TT about your tribe.
McSkeezie ... I learn so MUCH from reading your posts. Thank you for doing all of the research necessary to enlighten us about our larger membership.

I love tigers and think they're much more beautiful than lions.
~Bathsheba
Of course tigers are more beautiful; they have stripes like I do!

Tigers are the BEST bigcats... even though they aren't bred for their magical skills :) Next week, there's a show on Australian TV about Siberian Tigers. Their stripey furs look so good against the snow!
You know such interesting stuff! Thank you for sharing it with us. And thank you for visiting my blog. Should I be Tiger O'Lily this month?
What interesting facts. I like tigers for their stripes. I just mentioned you in a post, BTW.
What about the leopards, cheetah, panthers, linx, and puma?
mcskeezix, you are one smart fellow. thanks for sharing your knowledge with the rest of us.

Very interesting TT, Skeez. I would have thought tigers were very good at catching their prey. wow ... they have to make at least 10 tries at hunting every day in order to eat! We got it good!
And great job climbing the chimney yesterday. I'm impressed! I like to climb, too. There are many rock climbers in Yosemite, and they even have a rock climbing school. Hey! Maybe Mr TF and the Fodd Lady would let you take lessons!
Your friend,
'Kaika
Tigers are very cool, but I do like mountain lions as well. They get a bad rap 'cause humans are moving into their range.

Skeezix, do you think I might be a tiger? I love water - when my mom is relaxing in the bathtub, I like to get in and lay on her chest, and I try to swim in my water bowl. And I'm sure I could eat 60 pounds of food at one sitting! Of course, I do have spots, not stripes...hmmm...
Rocky
Wow.I need to show this to the Woman. She loved tgers so much that she has a fuzzy blanket with a white tiger on it, and a tiger on the office wall, and even a toger shower curtain. She's extremely PO'd that there are so few of them left, even though they really wold eat her face off if they could.
Very interesting Skeezix! Thanks for sharing all these facts with us. I never knew a group of tigers was called a Streak. I wonder if that's how Streaky the Super-Cat got his name?
Thank you for all the informative facts about tigers. I love tigers and wish that people would stop killing them off.
