Taking the cats on a walk

Jackie Morris is used to the odd stare when she takes her pets out for a walk. But it's not her dogs Bella and Floss that get the admiring glances, but rather her three ginger cats that accompany them.
Maurice, Elmo and Pixie often tag along on the four-mile walks by the Pembrokeshire coast in Wales. The intrepid moggies pick their way through moorland and even negotiate tricky stiles on the route. They also leap onto the sign posts, perhaps to check they are going in the right direction.
Their adoring owner Jackie said her cats were keen to come out in all weathers...but the preening felines didn't like muddy areas and avoided any bogs.
She said: "We do get a lot of people staring at us. Ramblers come up to us and say: 'But they're cats'. And I say: 'Yes of course, they are cats.' No-one can quite believe that they really come walking with me. But they love it.
"Elmo likes to be in the lead, Maurice wanders off to look at things and runs up hills and gateposts, and Pixie likes to stand and stare at the view, or jump on you as you walk past. "Once someone said to me: 'You're supposed to keep your dog on a lead.' And I had say: 'But he's a cat."

We always get comments like that when my OTW and I go into the Out. The last place we lived, she was known all over the bunch of buildings as the 'Lady-who-walks-her-cat!' even though we mostly just investimigated the yard. Well I did, and she took lots of pictures of moss and ferns and holly leaf skeletons really really really close-up.
I am not surprised that the cat named Pixie is always lollygagging around at the back of the pack, looking at the view.
Daisy, be nice sweety. LOL! I LOVE this story. What a great story and family. What wonderful pictures too, I love the view. At first I thought the pics were taken in Wyoming. Guess I was way off! LOL!

Nice to see my ginger cousins in Wales enjoying the great outdoors. Jackie Morris obviously has the respect of her cats, and mine as well.
Why is it so surprising to people! Cats are intelligent and curious and want to learn more about the world around us. I'd love to go for walks, but Mom won't let me out!!!

Mom knowed a silver tabby in hi skule who would walk wif her from her furiend's howse to the end of the block.
well, even though they all look like they like the outdoors, i don't think those cats like it THAT much or they wouldn't be so podgy.

Those cats are following her so well!! I would run off, so I don't imagine I will be getting to go for a walk anytime soon.
Peoples just don't give cats enuf credit for being able to do normal fings like taking a walk.

Yesterday Maurice took her a present, bite size shrew, loosed in the house. How we laughed while She chased the tiny mouthful round the house and caught it in a cup.
